Michael Palin in Canada

While I was working at the GA, Michael Palin became the President of the RGS-IBG.
A member of the Monty Python team, and a TV traveller, he spent several years supporting and publicising the subject in schools.
He was recently in Canada to receive a medal from the Royal Geographic Society of Canada.

This is a useful article from the Globe and Mail, which includes an interview with Palin, and has some rather useful quotes for publicising the value of exploration, and connects with our work at Explorer HQ.

"I don’t think the ability to use Google or virtual devices is enough.... I think you’ve got to get feet on the ground, I think you’ve got to go sniff, smell the earth, see it, look at it. That’s the sort of geography that I think is still important."
