Back around 2004 ish there was just the Staffordshire Learning Net forum for Geographers to exchange ideas... No TES Resources, and no Twitter... No Facebook groups... There was my seminal GeographyPages site of course, which hosted thousands of web links and activities, and sites by David Rayner and David Robinson, plus a few others...
One site, which offered high quality images was Ian Murray's GeographyPhotos site. Ian was a regular contributor to SLN, along with several others, including Victoria Ellis (aka Little Miss Sunshine)
I was at Derby County's football ground when Ian's site received a Geographical Association award.
Ian's site is still going, and there are apparently around 50 000 images free to educators.
Higher quality images can be purchased, and there are some ideas for how to use some of the images on the blog that accompanies the site.
